"From time to time escaping reality is probably one of the best things you can do, but when reality is as dreamy as this, the last thing you want to do is escape. "

I was recently whisked away to Gran Canaria where I stayed at one of the GC wellness resorts, The Sheraton hotel. The perfect place to unwind and have some down time, whether its on your own, with a friend, a loved one, or even family, there is something at this secluded haven for everyone.

Picturesque views are one of the first things that will take your breath upon arriving at the Sheraton resort, the tranquil but luxury surroundings and friendly staff are probably one of the best combinations you could ask for.

Most days my friend and I made it our mission to be up super early so we could grab a bed or lounge by the pool. All beds are free or you can reserve one for 30 euros, this also comes with a bottle of champagne and snacks, so its definitely worth it if you want to secure yourself an area for the day and ensure nobody else can steal your spot.

Aside from chilling by the pool with a glass of bubbly we also visited the night spa. I still need to know what concoction I was exfoliated with because my skin has never been so soft! As we visited the spa at night there was only us and three other people, which was total bliss. We spent some time in the sauna and steam rooms before chilling out in the Oxygen room for a while, which I needed as I was still carrying my annoying cold with me! after that we headed down to the heated pool area where my friend swam, and I just chilled on the jacuzzi chairs because unfortunately I still cant seem to grasp how everyone does this slow motion breast stroke with their head above the water! none the less, I still had an amazing evening and literally fell into bed straight after.

There are a number of restaurants that can dine in at the Sheraton, or you can dine in their main restaurant where they serve breakfast lunch and dinner daily, this is probably where you'd be dining if you had an all inclusive stay.

The food is insane! everything from breakfast to dinner is cooked fresh in front of you, and if you're a foodie like me you will be spoilt for choice. Every morning I made a b- line for crepes and fresh fruit and in the evening my plate consisted of different cuisines from around the world...don't judge me you would honestly be the same. Don't get me started on the deserts, I basically lost weight for holiday to put it all back on.

The Sheraton is pretty huge as its also a golf resort, they have many different types of rooms and suites to cater for everyone, and separate pool areas for children. I loved that the hotel was surrounded by tropical plants and foliage, it made me feel like I was a lot further away from home than I actually was and gave me plenty of instagram photo opportunities!

Exploring the grounds is probably one of the best things you could do if you ever plan a visit, as there are always places to discover, from the bars to the secret pool...yes it really is a secret as I couldn't find it.

The view from our room was incredible, as you can see below.

If you can bare to pull yourself away from serenity for a couple of hours, you can take a trip into the local town or even check out the sand dunes like we did. Its not a place where you'd spend hours and hours but its worth checking out especially for photo opportunities, I've never seen anything like it.

Leaving footprints in the sand was one of the last things we did, and every time it rains in fun fun London I wish I was back in Gran Caneria.

GC wellness offer a range of hotels, packages and treatments which you can check out below, I really enjoyed my time at the Sheraton and I would not hesitate to go back.
